RESUME

Kevin Bodnar earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree from the British Columbia Institute of Technology while working as a geotechnical technologist and joined GeoPacific in 2009 as a project engineer. He subsequently completed his Masters of Engineering degree at the University of British Columbia in 2015, while maintaining his role at GeoPacific.

Kevin is registered as a professional engineer in British Columbia and Alberta and is a member of the Vancouver Geotechnical Society. Kevin began working in the field of geotechnical engineering in 2005 and has experience on a wide variety of projects in the Lower Mainland and elsewhere in BC and Alberta. 

Kevin is experienced in seismic design, foundation design, slope stability assessments, retaining wall design, shoring design, and soft soil engineering for projects ranging from small residential developments to high rise buildings, tilt-up commercial buildings, port facility upgrades, municipal roads and services, and telecommunication towers.

Mohammad completed his PhD studies at the University of Calgary on the topic of swelling shales of northern Alberta. Mohammad started his career with Golder Associates Ltd. in Calgary, AB in 2010 while finishing his PhD studies at the University of Calgary. After graduation from the University of Calgary in early 2012, Mohammad continued working for Golder (Greater Vancouver Office) for approximately 2 years as a geotechnical specialist and then he joined GeoPacific Consultants Ltd. as a Project Manager.

His work experience has consisted of several projects including design and analysis for highway expansion and bridge abutments, mine tailings dam siting study and design (Golder), finite element slope stability, seepage and stress-strain analyses for geomaterials (Golder and GeoPacific), geotechnical investigations and reports, several types of deep excavations/shoring designs, deep and shallow foundations, ground improvement, dike and cut-off wall designs (GeoPacific).

Mohammad’s projects at GeoPacific include residential/commercial buildings ranging from low-rise individual buildings to multi-tower residential/commercial as well as industrial developments in Alberta and British Columbia.

RESUME

Marian Letavay joined GeoPacific Consultants in 2001 as a project engineer. Today he serves as senior geotechnical engineer with the firm. Educated at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, Marian graduated in 1979 with a Master of Science in Civil Engineer (with geotechnical specialization). He is registered as a professional engineer in British Columbia and Saskatchewan and is a member of the Vancouver Geotechnical Society.

He brings over 30 years of engineering experience to the firm gained both in Canada and in Europe. He has worked on a number of projects for residential and commercial buildings, seismic upgrades, deep excavations, forestry, geotechnical hazard assessments, and slope stability analysis. Marian’s geotechnical experience in remediation sites and communication infrastructure has brought an added depth of expertise to our team.

Marian has worked for a number of firms in both the lower mainland and in Saskatchewan prior to coming on board in 2001. Some of Marian’s key projects at GeoPacific have included: remedial excavations, communication towers, varying projects in the Chilliwack-Hope region, and was a member of the Port Mann Bridge temporary works team.

Farshid Bateni received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree (2004) from the Zanjan Azad University, in Iran, and started working in engineering industry focusing in civil and structural design and construction. He subsequently completed his Masters and PhD degree from the University of Science Malaysia with geotechnical specialization in 2013. He joined GeoPacific in 2014 upon arriving to Canada.

Farshid is registered as a professional engineer in British Columbia and is a member of the Vancouver Geotechnical Society.

With over 8 years of experience at GeoPacific, Farshid has worked on a variety of residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects in British Columbia.

He is involved in all aspects of our projects from site investigation, through the design phase and ultimately in the successful completion of the project. He is experienced in seismic design, foundation design, deep excavations, slope stability assessments, retaining wall design, shoring design, and soft soil engineering.

Farshid has had extensive experience in the design of complex projects with a special focus on numerical modeling and simulations.

Kazunori Fujita has over 14 years of geotechnical experience in British Columbia, as well as in Japan, participating in over 500 projects.

This experience includes a wide variety of projects including foundation engineering for residential, commercial, and industrial structures, municipal roads and services, slope stability assessments and design, train tunnel investigations and constructions, and retaining wall design.

Roberto Avendano has worked in the field of geotechnical engineering since 2005 and has experience in a wide variety of projects in the Lower Mainland and elsewhere in BC and Alberta.

Roberto is experienced in seismic design, foundation design, slope stability assessments, retaining wall design, shoring design, and soft soil engineering for projects ranging from small residential developments to high rise buildings, tilt-up commercial buildings, port facility upgrades, municipal roads, dyke designs and services, and telecommunication towers.

Erin Kempin completed her BSc. in Geology at the University of Alberta in 2002 and her MSc. in Hydrogeology at the University of Calgary of 2012. She has been with GeoPacific since 2016 and has over 15 years experience working as hydrogeologist working in the public sector, oil and gas and construction industries. Currently she works on groundwater assessments and erosion and sediment control.

Scott Robbins joined GeoPacific in March 2016 with the task of growing and managing the business in Calgary.

Scott has worked in the field of geotechnical engineering since 2012 and has experience in a wide variety of projects in BC and Calgary.

Gillian Williams joined GeoPacific in September 2015 as Operations Manager. Gillian has a strong technical background in the gold mining and exploration industry (17 years experience). In her current role, she leads and manages the operations of the Engineering, Admin and Drafting departments. She is responsible for recruiting, performance management, as well as Health and Safety and Organizational Quality Management. Gillian also manages the preparation of complex proposals/RFPs/RFQs.

Gillian began her career working as a geologist on the deep underground gold mines in South Africa. Gillian transitioned into exploration, and has worked on gold exploration projects in South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, DRC, Mali, Guinea, Egypt, Eritrea, Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania. Before completing her MBA and moving to Canada, Gillian was an exploration manager in Tanzania, where she successfully managed the re-entrance of AngloGold Ashanti Greenfields exploration through the drilling of two projects and the monitoring and evaluation of exploration opportunities throughout East Africa. In addition to this she also established and operated a new office. Her biggest success and challenge was engaging with a diverse workforce, as well as engaging with various stakeholders (government, JV partners and communities).
